Protocols

Below you'll find the "Placemat Files" that are used to encourage student conversation about content.  Use them to generate discussion between students in pairs, groups or whole class. Use them as writing prompts after watching a video, reading a passage, observing a demonstration, or any other application you can think of.

Once students are given time to respond to a question, call on them randomly so each student has a chance to participate. Promote academic language use and prepare students for answering questions in complete sentences.

The School Reform Initiative (SRI) creates transformational learning communities fiercely committed to educational equity and excellence.

Below you'll find the link to the SRI Protocol Alphabetical List:

These protocols can be used for PDs, meetings and in the classroom for learning, discussions, analyzing work, sharing ideas, etc.
