LAHS NAMED AS A 2017 RECIPIENT OF THE LAURA BUSH FOUNDATION FOR AMERICA’S LIBRARIES GRANT

The Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries announced Los Angeles High School as a recipient of their nationwide grant. The school’s Ray Bradbury Library will receive $7,000 to purchase literary resources such as books, magazines, and audiobooks. Teacher Librarian James Ng states, “I’m excited for our students and staff, as we plan to add a variety of publication to support research based learning, with special consideration for our STEM Magnet program, Visual Arts focus, and Career and Technical pathways.”  read more ....

LAHS Student Wins 2017 Digital Voices Award

Los Angeles High School’s Arnold Sung was selected as a Los Angeles County Office of Education 2017 Digital Voice Awards contest winner for his renewable energy song submission of “It Begins with the Sun”.  “I’m honored by the award, the project was a fun!” shares Sung, a senior in the magnet program. Adding, “we need to get the message out that ‘Earth Day is everyday’, I’m glad I can express it through music.”   “Celebrate Student Voice!”, the theme of the sponsored event, honors teachers and students from across Los Angeles County who are utilizing technology in innovative, creative, and instructionally sound ways.  Sung composed the original piece writing the music and lyrics. He played all instruments and was the primary and backup singers. Additionally he mixed the music and vocals using Apple’s GarageBand.  Sung ends, “special thanks to my teachers, it wouldn’t have happened without their help.” 

Congratulations to Roman Color Guard!

Congratulations to the LA High Color Guard on their first place win at the WGASC Winter Guard Competition with a score of 91, one of the highest scores across all divisions!

Congratulations to LAHS MESA team

Saturday, March 11, 2017 our MESA teams competed at Hamilton High at the Prelims, and came away with first, second, and third place wins in many events. The team would like to thank our school Principal Dr. Yoon, for the support in the MESA program at LA High, Jacqueline Dela Rosa and the ARC team for providing us the resources we need especially our Jacket and our 3D printer. Harrison Trust - for MESA funding, and Mr. Gerson - for his dedication in helping our students.  See results here.

Kudos to Coach Scott for Teaching Life Lesson: "What you don't ever want to do is lose your cool."

Roman Football lost Saturday night 21-6  to Sierra Canyon in a Division 2-A regional bowl game. However they were fortunate to learn an important life lesson that will help them throughout their lives. Stay calm, cool, collected. It's the only way you can make your way through difficult times.

Roman Football wins City Section Division II football title

Saturday afternoon in the City Section Division II championship game, our Romans scored 36 consecutive points and forced six turnovers in a 36-6 upset at El Camino College. They now enter the State Champtionship.Read more Romans will face Canon in a very competitive game this Saturday night, December 10th at 7:30 pm at Woodland Hills. Information about a "Spirit Bus" will be available soon.

Congratulations to LA High's JPL Teams!

LA High's Team Diamond and Team Dynamic Nonagon competed in the Finals Saturday 12/3 in the 2016 JPL Invention Challenge Competition. Due to  a change in the scoring procedure, our Team Diamond came in 6th place while the Team Dynamic Nonagon again placed third. Mr. Dante Madali is the principal faculty advisor for these competitions, assisted by teacher Miss Charlotte Fushan. Gordon Gerson is a mentor (LAHS class of S’54).

Congratulations to LA High's International Bridge Building Team!

On Thursday, March 24, 2016 Los Angeles High School's team Romanoid--Xuemei Jiang & Christian Sy-- won first place in the 15th Annual Los Angeles Regional Bridge Building contest. We will represent Los Angeles to compete at the International Competition in Chicago.
 

Congratulations to LA High's MESA Prosthetic Team!

Los Angeles High School's MESA team competed in the “MESA Prosthetic Arm Challenge 2.0" Saturday, February 27th and won First and Second place.  This competition was the UCLA Preliminaries, the first in a series. The next competition is the L.A. Metro or City on April 9th. The City winner goes to State, and the State winner goes to the National Finals.
