It's a new year and a new world! We have a the new bell schedule which will be 8 classes (4 each day in blocks). This will offer students new opportunities we never had under the previous schedule.
A bit about me: I'm in my 4th year as a Roman counselor, but previous to that I was a middle school counselor and teacher for 22 years. I have two sons, one of whom is starting college this year along with his older brother. I'm so proud of them. I'm so excited to meet you all in person as soon as possible!
Mr. Rashaan Washington
It is my pleasure to be here at Los Angeles Senior High School as the new Black Student Achievement Program - School Counselor. I am excited and looking forward to supporting students, parents and staff this upcoming school year. The foundation of my approach to education and school counseling is to provide resources to ensure our students are getting their needs met. My key areas of focus will be supporting students with academics achievement, attendance & social-emotional needs. In addition, guidance with college preparation, character development & extra-curricular activities will also be provided.
I am new to LAUSD, however I have been a school counselor and school administrator working with 6th - 12th grade students in the Los Angeles metropolitan area for over 13 years. As a native of Los Angeles and graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA (undergrad)/ University of Houston in Texas (grad), I pride myself on being connected to the communities I serve students and live within. I believe it takes a village to prepare our students for success in school and beyond, with that being said I want to be accessible to parents as well so that we can work together. I look forward to meeting you all, I will be located in the main office (310) 900-2700 ext. 2759.

I cannot wait until I see you in person! Please stay healthy and safe until we meet.

Hello Romans. I am Ms. Beard, your Specialized Student Services Counselor. Although we are embarking on a new school year, my role has not changed. As your Specialized Student Services Counselor, I support foster youth and youth involved with the juvenile justice system. I also assist the Pupil Services and Attendance Counselor with supporting students experiencing homelessness. Although I am not on campus every day, I encourage you to visit the Student Support Center if you would like to meet with me. Along with the other members of the Roman family, I am here to help you achieve success. I look forward to working with you. Welcome back and have a great school year. Go Romans!
