Los Angeles High School participated in the Academic English Mastery Program's District-Wide Written Word/Multimedia Contest. The task was to develop a multimedia presentation describing how an African-American person inspired a student to lift her/his voice to advocate for social justice in our school and community. This Stand Up/Speak Out contest was honoring African American History Month.
Los Angele High School entered the contest with a rap song written and performed by our senior Joshua Guernon, aka Lil Drift, dedicated to Martin luther King Jr.
Josh won the contest for the high school level span within the district. He and his parents are invited to participate in an award ceremony this Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Council of Black Administrators (COBA) Conference.
"Josh is an incredibly talented, creative rap artist. We are so proud of him! Great music career is ahead of him. We wish him Good Luck!" stated Ms. Gotzeva, Title III Instructional Coach at LA High.
