Expository Composition (Period 3, 4) Assignments

- FINAL draft of Personal Statement (TYPED, double-spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1000 words) due BEGINNING of the period.

- answers to "First Draft Self-Reflection" questions need to be completed by Tuesday 11/04/08.
 

- rough drafts of personal statements need to be completed by the end of the period on 10/31/08

- introduction paragraph and at least the second body paragraph, if not third, of personal statement due

- Introduction paragraph of Personal Statement essay due.

- Extra credit book reports due. (Read up to 2 novels during break for extra credit - 2 fiction, 2 nonfiction, or 1 of each). Report forms were given out in class.

- finish first draft of letter to the editor on page 56-57 of textbook - include 2 proper in-text citations, correct subject/verb agreement, and address counterclaim and redirect argument

- write 5 sentences and circle the subject and underline the verb (be sure to check that the subject agrees with the verb.

- all missing work due for some credit (some credit is better than none) - remember that all late work will be marked down.

- Period 4 Only - finish vocabulary work (15 words and definitions from article - pgs. 62-64) and vocabulary maps for 3.

- finish questions 1-4 (page 50), logical questions (page 51), reading biography of Rifkin and answering ethical questions 1-5, skip # 2) on page 52.

- parent signature on individual progress report for this class.

- Final Draft of Fast Food essay due at the BEGINNING of Class, along with peer edit forms and rough drafts

- First 2 paragraphs of Rough Draft of Essay on Fast Food due by Thursday, 07/24/08 - BEGINNING OF CLASS

- Finish Activity 13, if needed. (due by 07/21/08 for 3rd period).

- get a spiral notebook or composition notebook for use ONLY for English class (if you prefer loose leaf paper - make sure to get a small notebook that you use ONLY for English class. (This will help you keep your notes organized in preparation for essays and other assignments. I will be collecting them and checking them periodically as well.)
