English 10A (Period 1,2, 5) Assignments

- Group Power Point projects on 2008 Election issues need to be completed by the end of the period on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
- ALL groups must be ready to present at the beginning of class on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.

- Extra credit book reports due. (Read up to 2 novels during break for extra credit - 2 fiction, 2 nonfiction, or 1 of each). Report forms were given out in class.

- See Ms. Wald's main page - "links" for links to appropriate reading lists if you need ideas of what to read (recommendations from others are usually the best, though). See your librarian at your local public library for suggestions.

- ENJOY YOUR BREAK :-)

- read pages 26 and 27 and answer questions:
1) What is the title of the article?
2) Where is the article from? How do you know?
3) What is the article about?
4) Turn the title into a question or ask a question about the title.

- finish quote, paraphrase, response charts for "The War Escalates" (page 26-28 in Multicultural Perspectives) - 3 charts

- all missing work due for some credit (some credit is better than none) - remember that all late work will be marked down.

- finish Truth's Delivery of Speech handout - part B (if needed) - Part A done in class

- finish questions 1-5 (emotional) for "Change of Heart..." article on page 53 (article on page 62 of textbook).

- finish chart for Sojourner Truth's "Ain't I a Woman?" (handout provided in class)

- bring 3 to 5 magazine ads or one magazine for use on 08/05/08

- parent signature on individual progress report for this class.

- finish "Evaluation Chart" - through article name and issue discussed for pages 6 and 7 and 8 and 9 in Perspectives in Multicultural Lit. book.

- Finish "Evaluation Chart" (handout provided in class) for "If Decency..." article, page 6-7 in Multicultural Perspectives book

- Final draft of "Through the Tunnel" essay, along with rough draft, outline, peer edit form, conflict chart, symbol chart, and pre-write notes

- Completed rough draft due at the BEGINNING OF CLASS on Wednesday, 07/24/08

- Completed outline and first 2 paragraphs of rough draft due by Wednesday, 07/23/08

- Complete "Through the Tunnel" essay outline through Paragraph #3

- ALL PERIODS - have all work (symbol and conflict charts for "Through the Tunnel" ready on Monday - beginning of class, if they are not completed yet.)
- Periods 1 and 5 ONLY: Your own political cartoon due by Monday.

- PERIOD 2 ONLY - Finish Symbols chart for "Through a Tunnel" (if needed).
