Syllabus for Korean Language Class 3A, July 2007 through April 2008


Text and Workbook: Speaking Korean for Foreigners, Korean for foreigners


 General Guidelines

  • Warm-up: Go over previous lessons for 10-15 minutes.
  • Students turn in their weekly class work Thursdays.(100 Points)
  • Students take quiz on Thursdays.(100 pts)
  • Students take one final test.(300 pts each)


How will students be graded?

      They will be graded on a weekly basis. Their total possible points are 200 points per week. Their attendance is very important because They are graded daily(20 points)

They are allowed to make up missing assignments for excused absences.



A: 100%-90%     B: 89%-80%       C:79%-70%     D: 69%-60%   F: below 59%

Week 1-2: Using transportation facilities and convenient facilities                           

Week 2-3: Asking and answering questions about hobbies

Week 4-5: Describing colors and shapes

Week 6-7: Telephone, calling someone and asking for someone.

Week 8-9:  Using postal services   

Week 10-11: Describing appearance and clothing

Week 12-13: Depositing, withdrawing and exchanging money at the bank               

Week 14-15: Illness, talking about symptoms, Making recommendations to                 :I

                      Someone who is sick

Week 16: Prep for finals and finals


Second Semester, January 2008 through April 2008


Week 17: Reviews of the first semester

Week 18-19: Talking about weather

Week 20-21: Travel, Making a reservation and Making travel plans

Week 22-23: Using lodging facilities

Week 24-25: Talking about what you want, suggesting, accepting and refusing

Week 22-27: Buying vegetables or fruits, buying electronic appliances, buying clothes Week 28-29: Talking about free time activities, talking about sports, talking about 


Week 30-31: Suggestions, making appointment and refusal

 Week 32: Prep for finals and finals
