Syllabus for Korean Language Class  1A July 2007 through October 2007


 General Guidelines

  • Warm-up: Go over previous lessons for 10-15 minutes.
  • Students turn in their weekly class work Thursdays.(100 Points)
  • Students take quiz on Thursdays.(100 pts)
  • Students take one final test.(300 pts each)


How will students be graded?

      They will be graded on a weekly basis. Their total possible points are 200 points per week. Their attendance is very important because They are graded daily(20 points)

They are allowed to make up missing assignments for excused absences.



A: 100%-90%     B: 89%-80%       C:79%-70%     D: 69%-60%   F: below 59%

Week 1 through 5 : Introduction of Korean Alphabet, vowels and consonants, Basic                              


Week 6 through 7 : Counting Numbers( Sino-influenced ones)


Week 8 through 9: Counting Numbers( Pure Korean)


Week 10 through 11: Self-introduction, subject marker , , objective marker, ,                                    입니다

Week 12                  : Introduction of objects in the classroom   

Week 13                 : Family titles

Week 14                 :Introduction of body pars

Week 15                 :Introduction of the week and months of the year

Week 16:                : Prep for finals and finals


Second Semester, January 2008 through April 2008

Week 17: location, 있다

Week 18: Introduction of  typical Korean food and Traditional Korean Holidays

Week 19: Description of food

Week 20: Introduction of colors

Week 21 : Introduction of clothes

Week 21: Buying products with Korean money, won, 얼마에요,싸요, 비싸요

Week 22:  Talking about family, 으세요, 않다

Week 23-24: Talking about weekends, Basic verbs and past tense

 Week 25-26: Making an appointment, ㅂ시다, 까요?

Week 27-28: Ordering food and drinks, talking about desires, 싶다

Week 29-30: Inviting someone over or out,  Accepting and declining an invitation지요,                                            있다/없다

Week 31-:  Finding your way and explaining directions

Week 32 : Prep for finals and finals
