Learn about the mission and function of museum in society. . This class will teach you how to manage and archive collections. You will also plan, market, fund-raise, and curate exhibitions.
In this course you will:
- Develop a plan for opening an onsite museum dedicated to the exhibitions of more than 140 years of Los Angeles High School artifacts
- Interact with alumni and the community to determine a clear mission and vision for the museum
- Devise a public relations campaign complete with marketing strategy for the museum’s opening
Projects you'll have the opportunity to complete are:
- Build a museum
- Curate a show
- Create marketing materials though video and graphic design
- Wearable art-period piece from an L.A. High yearbook
