Principal's Office > Welcome

September 1, 2015
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Greetings to all Romans Families! Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year and we especially extend our warmest welcome to new students and families of Los Angeles High School.

In order to fully prepare today’s students to be college and career ready, educators across the nation are currently implementing the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The primary goal of CCSS is to teach critical thinking and problem solving skills in all subject areas. Essentially, Common Core State Standards are focusing on the necessary 21st Century job skills for students to thrive in our global society.

Given this charge, we are committed to engaging Roman scholars in rich learning opportunities. In turn, we expect Romans to be active participants in and outside the classroom. It is my expectation that all of us as staff, parents and students bring our “A” game, our best selves, to this dynamic learning community. We will continue to inform and engage our parents/guardians and the community in the learning process.

In closing, it is my great privilege to serve and lead Los Angeles High School. We pledge to prepare our students to become independent thinkers, make informed opinions, critique the opinions of others, defend their arguments with evidence, and effectively communicate their points of view.

PLEASE NOTE: Mark your calendar for first Coffee with the Principal on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 8:30am in the Parent Center (and every first Friday of the month). All parents/guardians are welcome.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel to contact me at the main office. I can always be reached at my email: hjy3574@lausd.net.
Best wishes for the 2015-2016 school year!
